Objectives:

By the time students leave Middle School South PE

they will know and be able to

  1. Evaluate their individual fitness levels and create realistic goals to improve on their weaknesses. 

  2. Students will set new goals and continue toward personal improvements for incease in wellness.

  3. Identify healthy choices and create healthy habits they will use for life

  4. Engage in a variety of activities now and throughout their life to maintain a desirable level of wellness

  5. Utilitze technology to help in tracking and setting goals.

  6. Safety and personal responsibility in physical activity endevours

  7. Create routines incorporating movement patters

  8. Identify critical elements and tactics to enhance movement and game play

  9. Create an advocacy campain to promote physical activity and fitness, linking the health benefits

  10. Problem solve and work collaborativly with classmates and teams 

 

8th graders are performing basic dumbbell lifts for a full body workout.  The focus is on form and proper technique. Light weights are being used.

Tip: Students are encouraged to follow the myplate formula when preparing their meals.

Tip: By adding weight bearing activities such as weight training you will lower your risk of osteoporises.

Tip: Stretch warm muscles.  Especially your hamstings to prevent lower back problems.
